Lower Mountain Fork River: August 8. Fishing has slowed considerably. Folks who normally catch/release lots of fish are doing well. The air temperature has been high for several weeks and the water temperature is rising as well. Seems that the best flies mimick some stage of caddis, caddis larva, pupa, emerger, and adult. Small flies seem to be working well, especially in zone 2, try midge patterns, caddis patterns, and occasionally a colorful streamer. In zone 1 grasshoppers and ants are a good choice. Lower Mountain Fork River: July 31. Dry fly fishing is good in all zones on stimulators, caddis, light cahills, wooly buggers, pheasant tails and egg patterns. Zone 1 good early morning and late afternoon on a variety of lures. You best bet is to try midges, dry flies, bead head pheasant tails, #6 wooly buggers and y2k. Zone 2 is generating. Zone 3 fair. Wister: August 14. Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 87 and murky. Crappie fair up the Poteau River arm of the lake on minnows around timber at 8-10 ft. Channel catfish good at night on stink bait or chicken livers at 2- 4 ft. around the shoreline. Arbuckle: August 14. Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water 84 and clear. Crappie and white bass slow. Channel catfish being caught at 15-18 ft. on cut bait and dough bait up Guy Sandy Creek. Bass fair to good at night using drop-shot worms, Carolina rigs and black spinnerbaits off points. With lake falling watch for underwater hazards. Report submitted by Jack Melton.

Eufaula: August 14. Elevation 3 ft. below normal and clear. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits at 4-10 ft. off points. White bass good on slab spoons at 10-20 ft. in the flats. McGee Creek: August 13. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal. Largemouth bass fair on shad colored crankbaits for schooling bass early and late and fair on soft plastic lures at 12-18 ft. off rocky shorelines. Lower Mountain Fork River: August 8. Fishing has slowed considerably. Folks who normally catch/release lots of fish are doing well. The air temperature has been high for several weeks and the water temperature is rising as well. Seems that the best flies mimick some stage of caddis, caddis larva, pupa, emerger, and adult. Small flies seem to be working well, especially in zone 2, try midge patterns, caddis patterns, and occasionally a colorful streamer. In zone 1 grasshoppers and ants are a good choice. We are observing more and more of the large Hexagenia mayflies. Report submitted by Sid Ingram, Beavers Bend Fly Shop.
Lower Mountain Fork River: July 31. Dry fly fishing is good in all zones on stimulators, caddis, light cahills, wooly buggers, pheasant tails and egg patterns. Zone 1 good early morning and late afternoon on a variety of lures. You best bet is to try midges, dry flies, bead head pheasant tails, #6 wooly buggers and y2k. Zone 2 is generating. Zone 3 fair. Murray: August 14. Largemouth bass being caught early and late on various baits. Channel catfish are being caught on stink bait on the north end of the lake. Robert S. Kerr: August 14. Elevation below normal, water 84 and clear. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits at 3-5 ft. in weedy or rocky areas next to deeper waters. White bass fair on shad imitation lures from surface to 5 ft. around islands. Channel and blue catfish fair on live bait and fresh cut shad at 10-20 ft. in old river channel. Sardis Lake: August 14. Elevation normal. Largemouth bass slow. White bass and walleye fair trolling the islands. Blue and flathead catfish fair on trotlines and juglines baited with cut shad. Texoma: August 14. Elevation 4 1/2 ft. below normal and falling. Water 84 and clear. Largemouth and smallmouth bass fair to good on surface lures and deep diving lures from the surface to 15 ft. Striped bass and white bass good on surface lures, sassy shad, slabs and live bait from the surface to 30 ft. scattered from Catfish Bay to the Islands with the majority of the fish caught near the Islands. Channel and blue catfish fair to good at 10-20 ft. on cut shad and live bait near Platter Flats, Washita Point, creek channels and around underwater ledges. Wister: August 14. Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 87 and murky. Crappie fair up the Poteau River arm of the lake on minnows around timber at 8-10 ft. Blue catfish fair drifting with shad or cut bait. White bass fair around the rocky points, on windy nights using minnows for bait and float fishing at 3 ft. Channel catfish good at night on stink bait or chicken livers at 2- 4 ft. around the shoreline. Largemouth bass fair, evenings in the shaded areas of most coves on buzz baits, also dark colored crankbaits worked around the river bank up the Poteau River arm of the lake. Report submitted by D.G. Altus-Lugert: August 14. Elevation 30 1/2 ft. below normal and dropping quickly. Walleye, hybrid bass and lots of white bass are being caught daily. Main boat ramp has run out of cement. Use caution when driving over the wet sand to launch small boats. Large boats not recommended. Use extreme caution when on the lake. You may want to check for current depth by going to:
