little sugar creek flows thru nw arkansas and big sugar creek flows thru sw missouri. at there confluence at pineville missourithey get a new name. the elk river . the river is cool and clear . unfortunatly it is a favorite canoeing spot for many of the locals around nw ark. the majority of the float trips aare fro powell Mo. to pineville or from pineville to noelMo. but there is a spot where the fishing is good aand most people never fish it. at noel Mo. there is a spill way dam. below noel the river flows toward the Grand lake of the Cherokees . this section of river has small mouth , largemouth ,crappie, white bass , channel catfish, and flatheads. as well as goggle eye, perch and any number of who knows how many other species of smaller fish. the access is limited and the trip from noel to the oklahoma line is about 12 miles . if you get a chance and you like the smaller rivers give it a try . who knows maybe we won't bump into each other there.
