At 100,000 gallons a day Bennett spring is Missouri's 3rd or 4th (seen it listed both ways)largest spring. It is often called Bennett Springs but it is in fact a single spring with the spring branch running a length of about a mile and a half and divided into 3 seperate fishing zones.Acquired by the state of Missouri in 1924, the park has expanded greatly since. Today, the park's 3,099 acres encompass most of the watershed of Spring Hollow, including the 296-foot long Bennett Spring Natural Tunnel. The spring rises out of a narrow cave and is stocked with about 320,000 lbs. of rainbow and brown trout each year and the spring runs into the Niangua River about 12 miles west of Lebanon.
If you get the chance you should take the kids and check it out. It's not only good for trout fishing but has some nice trails for hiking and a good place for a picnic.
Anyone else been there?
