Does anyone use the cabin tents anymore?I have switched over to the dometype myself for the ease of use but I miss the the extra space of the old cabin tent.My old cabin tent I gave away a few years ago was canvas and about 30 years old.It will probably still be around after a dozen of the nylon domes have bit the dust.

I would like to get a cabin tent, but for now we have a canvas wedge tent, and an eight person dome tent. They are both pretty nice.

Got one of the old canvas style cabin tents. You know the ones, heavy as hell and leaked in a heavy rain. I've got a good 4 person dome tent now. Mine you can stand up in and basicly a three season tent. gets a lil warm in the summer with the rain/sun cover on it but it's liveable. 7x12 i think it is but the way it's made it's like 6ft inside except right on the very ends. Good tent. Stood up to 70 mpoh winds and torrential rains in KY a few years back. Tornado 2 miles away and i rode it out in the tent. Slept like a baby while everyone else's tents collapsed and they ran for the trucks...lol
Would'nt mind haveing a larger one for extended camping trips. If i was going to tent camp many extended trips id go with one of the newer wall tents.

I gots one of the nylon wall tents. can be a bugger tryin to put it up in the dark by yerself. but, its possible. Last year I got me one of em dome tents. aint even put it up yet. I just wanted sumthin I could pack in if'n I had to. Think, its bouta 4 person tent.
I stayed for a week in Arkansas in the wall type tent. Its more of a 2 person, time ya get yer big full size mattress set up an all the comforts of home.

i go thru phases. now i have an 8 x 10 dome and a 3 man dome . the 3 man dome i got for a canoe trip i want to take on the gasconade some day or maybe the buffalo. the only trouble is i have got use to sleeping on my cot when i camp and with the 3 man you have to sleep on the ground. the 8x10 will hold by big cot my wifes big cot aand my kids little 24in x 6 ft cot but we dont have room to move around much. we are either going to look at moveing up to a ssmall bumper pull traavel trailer or else a very big dome tent . change is good it just costs alot

One thing you can be sure of is: no matter what you have it will only hold 3/4 of what you want to take with you.lol! I went from tents to a 16' trailer to a 23' trailer to a 24' motorhome to a 34' motorhome and I always needed something bigger.I still have my little 16' trailer for creeks and I think I have traded back for the 24' travel trailer I once had(maybe)I am getting rid of the motorhomes, now that I have this place on the lake I just can't see keeping up the insurance and license for the motorhome.I don't do much traveling with gas at this price so the travel trailer seems more practical to me.I would like to have a trailer in the 30-34' range but like I said no matter what you get you will always want bigger.

Keep your eyes open for a decent 16-18 foot trailer in good shape at a decent price...lol I don't mind tents but would like a trailer i can pull with my bronco II for fall turkey hunting and deer season. Kind of want it because of the girls as well, more security.
Forget the cots boys, get you one of the coleman blow up mattresses. Not the lil cheap swimming mattresses but the good ones. You can get em in a twin, full, queen and even king size. Battery operated pump. Used to use mine camping in a buddies motor home. Sure beats the he!! out of the foam mattresses they have...lol
