Congressman calls for catfish labeling in restaurants A Mississippi lawmaker wants restaurants to identify the country of origin for catfish on restaurant menus and to shift oversight of the U.S. catfish industry to the USDA.
"People think of catfish as American fish and naturally assume that is what they receive when they order it from menus,” Second District Rep. Bennie G. Thompson said in a statement. “It is an outrage that Americans who legitimately order catfish or farm-raised catfish in restaurants are unknowingly eating imported catfish,
The Commerce Department regulates the U.S. catfish industry.
He also called for enhanced inspections on domestic and imported catfish.

I think that sounds like a good idea but it will likely drive up some prices for amarican catfish.
