Yeehaw, imagine takeing a sheet of coarse grit sandpaper and wrapping a sheet around your forearm. Then squeese it as tight as you can with your other hand and jerk it up and down your forearm while twisting. This will give you a fair idea of what it feels like when a 20 or 30lb blue runs up and grabs your hand.
Flats and channels will wait for you to stick your hand in their mouth most of the time. Blues are mean and will run up and grab as much of your hand/forearm in their mouth as they can.
Then they either lock their spines in place so you can't drag em out of a log or hole or else they start spinning on your arm like on a limb line. The actual cat is worse then the sandpaper trick...lol
Now imagine this. Your down about 6-10 feet under water. You stick your hand back in a mud bank hole and a 30 pounder runs up and grabs it to the middle of your forearm and clamps down HARD. Your hands down his throat. He sets his spines so you can't pull him through the mouth of the hole but he has room inside to start spinning and tugging. You can't get loose and he wont let go. All the while he's trying to pull you into the hole with him which results in his teeth stripping the skin off your forearm and hand. If he gets down to your fingers or you pull loose that much he clamps down and twists them around a few times dislocateing or breaking them. He may even tear one off if he's really ticked.
All the time he's doing this his teeth are injecting the neurotoxin cats have in their teeth and spines.
Now if your not trying to scream under water by now your breath is running real short. All the skin has been sanded roughly off your forearm and hand. The neurotoxins are really starting to work on your nervous system meanining its HURTING! Plus as you get loose, if you do, you now have three or four fingers mangled pretty well. This is noodleing on a bad day.
On a real bad day, least to worst, you get ahold of a snake, or you get ahold of a big turtle or rather HE gets ahold of you. You lose a chunk of flesh or a finger or two.
Next you get ahold of a beaver and he removes several fingers and/or a good sized chunk of your hand.
Worst case you get ahold of a river otter. They start at your fingertips and work their way progressively up your arm as far as they can munch which is about mid forearm. Maybe they take a bite or two or a couple of swipes at your chest neck or face. Bad news. And of course just getting hung up and drowning is to be considered.
Sounds like fun, don't it, eh?...lol
