Hit the tunnel for a few hours today whiskers. Took the girls down for memorial day yesterday and they really got the itch to fish. I got tired of listening to them whine, wanted to go myself. Water was up a lil yesterday but did'nt think much about it. It was up a LOT more today when we got down there. Could'nt even get over below the dam as planned cause the 'whistle bridge' which usualy sets a good 4-5 feet about the river was about 1 1/2 feet below it today. Water was starting to creep out in the bottoms as i waded down the road to check the bridge and depth.
Girls whined even louder so i took em down to the powerhouse. It was'nt running so i figured there would be a good calm spot in the backflow into the generation pool.
Walked down that long steep hill and fished for a few hours. Big cats were somewhere's else...like on the nest. Should of been somw real gawgs in there, it was almost perfect.
Smaller cats were'nt real cooperative. D@mn dinks bout drove me crazy. I could get past them i caught a few cats from about 2-3lbs.
Missed at least 4 more i should of had easy but im out of practice. Amber was about to drive me nuts as well with her constant chatter and haveing to remove almost every bluegill she caught. To small to keep, big enough to swallow a gold eagleclaw to their arse hole though.
I ended up with 6, clare got 1 about 1 1/2lbs and amber kept two bluegills...lol
The cats were pretty well stuffed with all the goodies in the high water, were'nt real hungry. It was up about 3 feet in the river and still riseing some. Was a lil flotsam comeing down. Two bad the two stinking jetskis that came up from LOZ and blew by right by me did'nt hit a nice log. Whole d@mn river to run and they crowd me.
USGS site says the waters falling like a rock now.
Don't rain to much this week might run back down this weekend. Id go back tomorrow but with the price of gas two trips in two days has accounted for about 300 miles of driveing. Thats roughly 15 gallons at 3.19 a gallon plus bait and snacks. Going to have to lay up and wait for the weekend i guess.
Cats are still in mid spawn looks like....IF their even spawning yet with this cold d@mn water we've had.
