Ever day as I go to work in Clinton I see these jugs on the East side of the hiway. They're anchored and I've seen a couple of guys running them a time or two. They move'm regler, and I assume since they are still there, they must be catching a few. I can't look'em over the way I'd like to, but yesterday one of them went under (jug- not fisherman) and stayed under til I was out of viewing range. Now these are gallon size jugs. I know it takes a FISH to do that, and I sure was wishin I could watch'em haul it in! Doggone havin ta make a livin anyhow! I'd never run another man's jugs, but I'd sure liked ta sit on the rip rap an watched them do it!

I've only seen it done once, by a cat that woulda gone 60- 65 lb. 10 minutes later he got into standing timber (when the lake was new) and straightened the hook. He kept it under a couple of times fer 20-30 seconds. That takes some doing, try it.

i get excited when i see a jug go under. i mean real excited. before the epa came along we use to use anti freeze jugs all the time. it takes a hoss to keep a prestone jug under for very long. im glad i dont have to drive by the lake every day lookin at someone elses jugs i'd probably go crazy after a while. i love to jug line

Yeah to take a gallon jug down and hold it any length of time it takes a good 50 to 60 lb cat. I hate to see folks useing the lil quart jugs when fishing. I have to wonder how many cats are lost when they take em down and get em hung up. I use nothing smaller then 2 liter jugs and prefer gallons.

i know what ya mean wolfman. wally world sells some jugs right now from strike king that are to small . the first time i seen em i told my wife now theres a catfish killer. i was bass fishing my home lake when i was in my 20's aand while we were pluging along i noticed a quart mason jar floating in the water. debreis is the norm on my home lake so i thought nothing of it . when i was about ready to hit high 24 the jar moved about a ft. what i found on the other end bothered me to the point that i can still see it planely to this day. it was a flat head. i measured it . it was 41 inches long . it weighed 8 lbs and looked like it had been thru a matag washing machine about a hudred times. some one had put out a mickey mouse trot line with a glass 1 qt. mason jar on it for a float . this fish tore there line top peices and took of with one hook in his mouth and 2 stuck in his back. by the time i found him he was so weak he couldn't sink the mason jar for more than a few seconds. i hope who ever put that line out has quit fishing because you could put in a thimble what they know about fishing. ouch i twisted my ankle getting down of my soap box.

SLABMASTER, NEXT TIME YOU NEED TOO GET ON THAT SOAP BOX, I WILL HELP YOU DOWM, SO'S NOT TO HURT YOURSELF, BUT I AGREE WITH YOU. ANYONE STUPIDED ENOUGH TOO USE A MASON JAR FER A JUG LINE, DON'T DESERVE TO EVEN HAVE A FISHING LICENSE, OR EVEN CLASSIFY THEMSELF WITH A FISHERMAN. I DON'T KNOW MUSH ABOUT IT MYSELF, BUT I WOULD ASK FOR HELP, BEFORE I WENT AND HURT A FISH, THAT IS JUST WRONG,WRONG,WRONG. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, ASK QUESTIONS OR STUDY UP ON IT, BEFORE YOU DO IT. THERE AIN'T NO NEED TO HURT A DEFENSELESS FISH, OR TALK THE FUN OUT OF THE SPORT FOR SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. OK SLABMASTER, YOU CAN HAVE YOUR SOAP BOXS BACK,THANKS. ;D
