That's something I really miss nowdays where we fish most of the time. The lake raises and lowers too much to let decent limbs ta grow out over the river. We fish the river just above what is considered normal standin water. I started experimenting with single drops tied solid with a piece of innertube ta take the place of the limb as a shock absorber. Haven't done enuff of it yet to give out any meaningful results. Anybody got a better idea I'll sure listen.

I've heard the innertubes work purdy good but I never tried it.I have alot of good limbs here around me on the Osage. The water don't change much between spring and fall here, not much more than a couple feet anyway.

Trouble up here is that the water is hi enuff ta kill stuff out on the old banks, then they drop it down, to maintain LOZ I guess. I spect I'll try goin on upriver some this summer. That beats griping about things here!

Sinker, something i've done when the limbs were'nt over the water for some reason is anchor a line to the bank then tie off a jug to the end of the line. With current you can also anchor the main line a foot or so back towards the bank to keep the jug out away from the bank. Overall though id much rather hang em from a nice limb or bush when possible.
I got a kick out of the 'Hot tip' on the other site abut useing bells on limb lines. Good way to lose your lines and all your fish. Ill keep hideing mine and running them every few hours myself..lol

Line thievery should be a shooting offence. Should be legal to at least blow their motor off their boat or put a few 'drain holes' in it...lol

It's legal until you get caught...lol
Ill never admit to giveing someone a bath by putting a 150gr 270 rnd into the water next to a boat running my lines...lol
Ive known an old timer or two that would figure out someone was running their trots for them then set up on the hillside with their rifle and punch holes in outboards for the fun of it.

Man don't you know it would of been good to of had some limb lines out after these rains of late. Hang em back under the willows and iornwood tree's and bait em with big bluegills. I need to do some work on my small boat and get the trailer fixed up. That was a limb lineing boat. 14 foot river Jon with a 5 horse on it. Shallow draft and would scoot right on up the river. Easy to handle by yourself to.

We didn have enuff water outa banks to do any backwater lining, but it sure can be productive. Before the Truman Dam came along there was a direct correlation tween backwater and the amount of corn oil sold! I got a little dandy fer th backwater too. 12' Lowe jon with a 9.9 Evin. I wish it was electric start, tho. Tank of fuel goes a lot further than with th other'n!
