I normally use a 10/0 regular hook or so like I use on my trotlines but I have a couple packs of circles left over that I bought to use on my rod n reel but I can't get used to them.I thought I might try to use them up on some limblines if they will work.

We used circles, and khale hooks in the Ozarks on our limb lines and they worked pretty good.

I may give the circles a try,I can't get used to not trying to set the hook on my pole.At least on the limbline I won't be there to yank on it.

I intend ta try circles on limbs this year. Don't know how conclusive a test it'll be, cause It's a long ways up the river ta find usable limbs. I can't see how they could be anything but better. I'm bettin they ain't any worse. I mostly gotta get into the habit of hookin the baits a little shallower, I think. Haven't decided what size hooks ta use cause I ain't seen how bigga perch Hoot's gonna let me use fer bait! lol

I've tried circles on the rods and my catch rate sucks. Even letting the rods load up the cats don't seem to hook themselves or hang on long enough to hook themselves. Now in a high current situation like the MO or MISS river they may work like a charm like most of the guys claim. But in slack water or a lake they don't seem to work for me. Tru-turns are my favorite and khales in a 6/0 or larger. I really like the tru-turns cause if the cats big enough to get the hook in their mouth ive usualy got a 'Fish On!'...lol

If you have'nt tried tru-turns you need to try em. Way their made when the cat bites down on them it turns the point/barb to the side and you pull it right into the side of the cats mouth. The few misses i get i think are either due to the cat being to small or the point is turned out outside the cats mouth.

I'm using 6s & 7s Eagle Claw, slightly off set like a true turn. Anything big enuff ta take th bait can get th hook in his mouth. It don't seem ta take a huge hook. It's mighty hard ta get them circles inna position ta straighten, and in the corner of th mouth it seems nigh on ta impossible.

# 7 circles Eagle Claw $8.59 for 50 at Buzz's Outdoor World just South of Lowry City. I don't think I can drive to Springfield fer the difference! He's a little higher than BP but not much generally. They are the red tin type. Sharpest dam hooks I ever bought.

I use circle for R&R since first of the year an now use no other. Prolly have bouta 85 % hookup, or better. Dont havta cross their i's or dot their t's, anymore. I use 6/0 &7/0 as well. I use a 4/0 on my entertainment pole (the one with the modified pop bottle on it). Entertainment for just sittin an watchin it bein chased around. Cawt a lil white on it night fore last. Have seen one circle straightened. Was a bouta 20+ snapper on it. Circles on snappers dont always hook in the corner of their mouths.
I tried Kahles last summer an went back to Shaunessey hooks. This year its been all circles. Have become a believer in em.
Buzz's here bouts is best place to get circle hooks that I've found.
