I set a few limb lines last night on an outside bend, just off a mud flat.I used several different baits and checked em this morning.Got 2 small blues on cutbait,1 decent size channel on stinkbait doughball and had a decent flathead (I'm guessing) trashed 1 line that I had a big live perch on.It was on the edge of the mudflat in about 3 feet of water and all I had to tie off to was a dead stump,it didn't have much give and I didn't have any inner tube to use so it was my own fault he got away.He bent a 7/0 circle hook. The action has been a little slow the last two days, the water has dropped about two feet or a little more and I never have much luck when the water is going down it seems.I was hoping they would keep the water level up after the rain we've had but they have been generating pretty heavy down at Bagnell dam. They say they plan on slowly bringing it up to have it full by Memorial Weekend.I hope they don't drop it much more or I will be landlocked in my cove again.I only have 2 feet of water over the mudflat at the end of our cove right now.

Maybe,I wonder if those rubber straps(like bungee cord) work very well.I've used em in rivers but I don't know how much they will handle.

Take a length of line justa tad longer then the bungee estimated stretch limit an fan fold it an tape along side to the bungee. Then if it breaks way, ya still got him.
Sorta a double line. One side stretchy thing, other side folded/taped line. (tape is so extra line/loop dont dangle around an get tangled.) rubber bands or light mono works too. Anything that will break away easy.

I'll have to give that a try.I always liked to use a good springy limb but they are hard to come by in the right spots here.

Ha! I think the only gold hooks in my tackle box are a few small Eagle Claw for crappie. It was a Mustad Demon Circle 7/0,one of the BIG black ones.It just bent the circle part of the tip.I'd like to hook one big enough to bend the main part of the hook,it would take a monster.I have some Stainless 10/0 for trotlines I guess I could use but under the circumstance I don't think it would have helped much. If it don't start to rain I think I will go back out tonight for a while and then again in the morning.I've been catching some dinks(2-3 lb.)on rod n reel here in this spot I'm trying, but haven't found any of any size yet.I haven't even tried my regular spot this year, with the price of gas I've been trying to find some closer holes. The spot I usually fish is on up about 3 miles by water, don't seem far but an extra 6 miles round trip adds up each time you run the lines.
