below beaver dam to the missouri state line is a section of the white river / tablerock lake that the state of arkansas calls the beaver tail water. its about 12 miles from the dam to the state line in Mo. 7 miles of this tail water is a put and take trout stream. the afgc stocks rainbows , cutthroat and brook trout . although the brook trout is not really a trout its a member of the char family. other available species in the tail water are white bass , spoonbill, and in the spring and winter very big walleye. most walleye fishing is done at night. there are some very stringent rules in the trout fishing area of this river . enforcement is strong aand tolerence is zero. this is also a no wake river from the houseman access all the way to the dam . i haave seen untold numbers of boaters and jet skis recive tickets for breaking wake speed on this river. public access below the dam . there are 3 more public acess spots one is the bertrand ramp at a place called parker flats . this is 3 river miles below the dam . the other access is the houseman access ramp . this ramp is 7 miles below the dam. many float trips are conducted from the dam to the houseman access. the river is a class one float even with all three turbines running. the last public acess is at beaver town . there is a small camp ground and boat ramp at beaver town . beaver town is 12 miles below the dam. the river from houseman to beaver town has good numbers of bass. aand the best walley are caught just up river from beaver town on ice cold february nights. one note i found interesting is how the trout got there. it seems that before beaver lake was impounded the white river was a world class small mouth river. aafter the lake went in the small mouth declined . the fisherman were ready to storm little rock and the afgc so to appease the angler trout stocking began. its a good river rrule changes have cut the crowd size down . rainy fall days and days with cloud cover are best times to fish for trout.
