This kinda goes with yer topic. But mite cause a different thread. Last year got ta thinkin bouta rig sumpthin like this for fishin fish at suspended levels. I tried drawin on "Paint". Think ya mite get the point. Anyhow, the sinker slides along onna swivel and a bobber of less bouyancy floats the bait to desired level. Any thoughts? I knows this wont work in any much currant.

Stopper beads, to regulate depth etc. don't work with th level wind on my outfits. Yer on th right track ta place th bait off th bottom, but somebody is gonna hafta tell me how ta use that much line, AND be able ta cast it! Yeah, I know donkey. We talked about this before, but I still ain't any smarter than I was then!

That looks like a good set-up but I haven't ever figured out how to cast that rig without getting all tangled up.I tried a couple years ago and the bobber and hook kept twisting up on my mainline.I ended up just dropping it over the side then moving the boat away from it.I'm sure there's a better way to cast but I aint found it yet.Other than casting,I like that rig.

#30 main line tied off to a 3 way swivel. Run #8-#10 test off one end of the swivel and tie off to a bank(teardrop) sinker. About 18-20 inchs of line to keep the bait off the bottom. Tie off #30-#50 to the other eye of the swivel. Run it out about 24-30 inchs. Tie off to your favorite hook. Place a bobber about 2/3rds of the way down the line just big enough to keep the bait up off the bottom. With current or drifting this rig will keep your bait trailed out behind you and keep it roughly 18 inchs off the bottom. Once in awhile the cats will actualy strike the float instead of the bait. I use the nice bright orange foam bobbers for more visibility under water. Cats feed by sight as well as smell you know. Going to start adding them tiny lil glow sticks to the bobbers when night fishing i think...lol
Just make sure their untwisted before casting then cast it with a slow easy sweep and they wont tangle to bad when they do.
