Just wondering who was keeping up on Jim Zumbos carreer killing foot in the mouth cut the throat of firearms owners blog fiasco?
Ive read the guy off and on over the years in ODL and thought he was a fairly decent guy. But he's been in the buisness representing millions of gun owners, not just hunters but gun owners for many many years. He should of known better, he had a responsibility to firearms owners to place us as well as himself in the best public view possible. He screwed up, big time! The hell with his carreer, he's old enough to retire anyway. After his foot in mouth blog entry it's pretty apparant it's past time he retired.
His lil foulup has caused us more harm then the brady group has in the last 10 years. His comments are being used on the brady anti gun site even now. What makes it even worse is the numbskulls are pushing yet ANOTHER assault weapons ban bill. This one comes kinda close to even some of our favorite hunting rifles let alone AR's or AK's. Because he failed to remember the first rule, represent the party you work for in the best possible light to the public, we now have some ground to make back. I feel kinda sorry for the guy but he should of thought before speaking. And remembered WHO he worked for.

I think he must have went braindead. That was all it took for several companies to sever ties with him.I'm glad Remington,O.L.,Cabela's and the like slammed him. That will teach him to call part of his fan base terrorists. The second amendment is a right, don't tread on it!!!
Edit:Here is what the deal is about, in case some hasn't heard.
Jim Zumbo:
Assault Rifles For Hunters?
As I write this, I'm hunting coyotes in southeastern Wyoming with Eddie Stevenson, PR Manager for Remington Arms, Greg Dennison, who is senior research engineer for Remington, and several writers. We're testing Remington's brand new .17 cal Spitfire bullet on coyotes.
I must be living in a vacuum. The guides on our hunt tell me that the use of AR and AK rifles have a rapidly growing following among hunters, especially prairie dog hunters. I had no clue. Only once in my life have I ever seen anyone using one of these firearms.
I call them "assault" rifles, which may upset some people. Excuse me, maybe I'm a traditionalist, but I see no place for these weapons among our hunting fraternity. I'll go so far as to call them "terrorist" rifles. They tell me that some companies are producing assault rifles that are "tackdrivers."
Sorry, folks, in my humble opinion, these things have no place in hunting. We don't need to be lumped into the group of people who terrorize the world with them, which is an obvious concern. I've always been comfortable with the statement that hunters don't use assault rifles. We've always been proud of our "sporting firearms."
This really has me concerned. As hunters, we don't need the image of walking around the woods carrying one of these weapons. To most of the public, an assault rifle is a terrifying thing. Let's divorce ourselves from them. I say game departments should ban them from the praries and woods
Update:
Response from Remington: "As a result of comments made by Mr. Jim Zumbo in recent postings on his blog site, Remington Arms Company, Inc., has severed all sponsorship ties with Mr. Zumbo effective immediately. While Mr. Zumbo is entitled to his opinions and has the constitutional right to freely express those opinions, these comments are solely his, and do not reflect the views of Remington."
Response from Outdoor Life: "Due to the controversy surrounding Jim Zumbo's recent postings, Outdoor Life has decided to discontinue the “Hunting With Zumbo” blog for the time being. Outdoor Life has always been, and will always be, a steadfast supporter of our Second Amendment"
Cabela's response:
"Dear Mr. XXXXXXX,
Thanks for your comments. While Cabela’s believes everyone has the right to express their own opinions, we strongly disagree with Jim Zumbo’s February 16 posting on his Hunting with Jim Zumbo blog on Outdoor Life’s Web site.
Throughout our 46-year history, Cabela’s has firmly supported all aspects of shooting sports. We strongly support the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States and the right of every U.S. citizen to purchase, own and enjoy any legal firearm of their choosing.
While we fully support Mr. Zumbo’s First Amendment right of free speech, we believe his opinions on this matter are counter to those shared by Cabela’s and many of our customers. Cabela’s Legal Department is currently reviewing contractual obligations and commitments regarding our sponsorship of the Jim Zumbo Outdoors television show.
Have a great day. Sincerely, Brent"

Here's a small note many seem to not know or over look on the 2nd amendment rights.
You have the right to talk about anything you want whenever you want 'as long as it brings no harm to another.' Id say zumbo's comments brought harm to a lot of others. It gave the brady commision more ammo in their constant fight to ban any and all firearms they can. Idiots. The timeing could'nt be much worse as there's a new assault weapons bill being pushed. Thing is the way THIS ban is written if it passes it could put in danger MANY of the sporting firearms we use to hunt. Anything built off the action or built from the initial design of an assault rifle or shotgun could be considered an assault weapon even if it's strictly a firearm. According to the ban bills text a winchester M100 semi auto sporting rifle could be outlawed as it's action is based on the original M1 Garand. We better hope this bill don't pass. And Zumbo gave em extra ammo to pass it.

I wasn't defending his right to free speech, although he is entitled to it by the "First Amendment" ( * First Amendment – Freedom of speech, press, religion, peaceable assembly, and to petition the government.) Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. I was referring to the Second amendment ( * Second Amendment – Right to keep and bear arms.) A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed. Just in case there was any confusion.

He pretty much killed his present career I think. I'm sure the Brady "bunch" might have an opening for him though.

I don't choose when it says what,really... I did fill out a bunch of quotes but it chooses when to say what at random.

and now it says something different.I wonder if all of us see a different quote at any given time? Now it says "Always be sincere, even if you don't mean it."
If you go to Danasoft dot com you can make your own signs like that for your forum signatures.Everyone can see their own ISP info, but your the only one that can see it.It's different for everyone.

I don't trust the wooly lil sucker. Second day ya had'im on here he was showin me th wrong IP addy. The rest of th time it's been correct, tho. Very few people have a dedicated IP address. It might have showed the wrong addy for you but most likely you just noticed your secondary address. Most people I've noticed have at least 2 different addresses.I don't know what it showed you but without saying what yours is,I'll say if the first numbers you seen were about 135 less than what you normally see it was probably right.About every 4th or 5th day you log on I see that other address for you, always have.I don't know how the Internet companies work but I'd guess either for traffic or maintenance reasons they route you through a back-up server.
