Ruger New Model BlackHawk 357 mag or a Tarus PT99 9mm semi-auto usualy. At the very least a Colt New Fronteir 22 convertible(22LR/22Mag) Single Action. That puppy has seen more miles then most Old Cars. One of those three are Always with me Everywhere.

i use to be a pistolero but im sad to say i dont even own one anymore. if i get to do some over nite camping ,float trips on the gasconade or stuff like that i will probably get me a pistol. i am a ruger fan always have benn always will be . there quality firearms and there affordable. i would like to find an old ruger stainless steel security six 357 with 6 inch barrel. i think what ever i got would be s.s. so i wouldnt have to worry about moisture. even though i know there are some reliable auto's on the market if we were talking about dealing with 2 legged snakes my preference would be a revolver.

I like the Ruger also but my .357 is a Dan Wesson with all the different barrels for it.I can go to a 2" 4" 6" or 8" barrel in just a matter of about 30 seconds,I also have different holster for each size and several grips to choose from. It's a pretty versitile outfit.

oh yea . i am very familiar with your rig . it is a very nice firearm. in my life befor alcohol got to be a problem i was a gun nut. my ex father in law was a gun smith aand we use to work on or practice with guns when ever there wasn't something to be huntin.i use to dream of owning that dan wesson with the barrel package but it was always out of my league in the price catagory. you got them snakes covered from inside the tent out to bout 150 yds with that rig.

I started to buy the dan wesson package back after the first came out. They were haveing some accuracy problems then as well as the still current problemof powder residue affecting the threads on the barrels. I could of got it for a sang then compared to what they are now. Always likes the security six and almost bought one way back when but did'nt like the price. Like it even less now if you can find one!
Im still a pistolero, always have been. Single actions are my pet gun though ive shot a load of competition with a single shot thompson. It IS the most accurate pistol on the market bar none. Singles and doubles are reliable but their drawback is speed of loading and only 6 rnds. With multiple targets this can mean bad news. Despite all the hype for other rnds the 9mm is still listed as the rnd with the MOST one shot stops by police departments and other orgs. Id been looking for a nice semi to carry in place of my ruger when i ran across the older PT99 with the high cap magazine well. Most new guns due to laws and litigation anymore are made to take only a 10 rnd mag. With the passing of said law and no reinstatement that should change now. We should see some new handguns manufactured for high cap mags. There's a sense of security knowing you've got 15 rnds at your fingertips with another 15 just a couple of seconds away. Hmmm, need to pick up a couple of the 20 and 30 rnd mags to...lol Learn the firearm, learn it's favorite load and keep it clean and functioning and you wont have Jamming problems. Most jams are due to poor maintinance and the inability of your firearm to 'stomach' certain types of ammo. Mine eats Blazer and PMC ammo like candy. It's not real crazy about remington ammo and of course dislikes hollow points...lol
I do a little minor gun smithing of my own on my rigs. Used to have a buddy that was a gun smith who sponsored me in competition as well(free work...lol) Got another thats thought to be one of the best shotgun smiths, paticularly for turkey and card shooting shotguns, in the country. Does good work.

thats cool wolfman i use to shoot some comp stuff . mostly .22 and .45 i heard about the accuracy problems of the early dans but have read they have overcame those issues. as for the securit six the last one i owned cost 200.00 dollars in vgc. it was a deadly weapon out to farther than most people shoot.i bought brand new wwhen they first hit the market a p89 , 9 mm ruger with high cap mags and decock . at the time our government was buying barretas for soldiers. it flabbergasted me that we would buy a foriegn weapon when rugger had the ticket right here at home. i ddid everything you could imagine to make that p89 jam and you may not but this but in a thousand rounds wwith out even cleaning the cosmoline off of it you could count the failures on one hand. i agree that there are some fine reliable automatic pistols on the market but i also think most people includeing me dont have the stomach for a protracted gun fight.

I don't go looking for a gun fight either but don't want to have to stop and ask the opponent in mid fight 'if i can borrow some bullets'....lol Most fights are won n lost in the first few seconds with the first few rnds. But being as i do a lot of out of the way fishing by myself where low lifes seem to like to gather to avoid the law im usualy out numbered. I like the stopping power of a 357 but my 9mm conceals a lil easier, has a high cap magazine, is fast n easy to reload and quite capable of engageing multiple targets so it suits the bill. I would'nt like nothing less then a 9mm and when you get up into the 45 crowd you run into a few problems like long range accuracy and recoil recovery. Up close their sweet. With my 9mm i can put two rnds center mass on four seperate targets before you can say oh sheet. I can only do that with three with my ruger. Course i can do it from the hip with the ruger...lol The berretta is a nice firearm, reliable and well made. One reason i picked the tarus PT99 is it's a 92f knockoff and can use about 85% of the same parts. That and the caliber was a consideration is things ever got real bad. Parts and ammo would be easy to come by. The military has lots stocked up...lol

I never have found a holster fer it, but my favorite toy is an ol' Mossberg pump bout 22' long. I don't use it fer huntin' so it holds more shells than expected normally. That 4th shot has caused eyes to open up wide as dinner plates. It'll kick yer butt outa the boat if ya ain't careful, but ya don't hafta wonder where it put them double ought bucks!

The Rugar 44 Mag Red Hawk is a fine piece with a 10 in. barrel a little expensive to target practice with, but it does get the attension of a big stick
