Well, its time for me to start planning my spring and summer trips to MO. I have fished from the 3rd week in March to Mid June in various years. It seems to me that the later in the year I fish the better the bite. Is this a generally true assumption or is it just the luck I've had? I fish Pomme De Terre mostly for bass and crappie. My wife loves night fishing for crappie and it seems that also picks up later in the spring (early June). What do you folks lucky enough to fish there year round think? I only get to fish a few days at a time each trip and know how much weather and lake levels affect things. I am looking for general rules to plan the timing of my trips. I'm thinking maybe either the 1st or the 3rd week in April for the first trip and late May or early June for the second trip. Help, Help, Help

I haven't been fishing the lake long enough to know just when they start biting good, but I would say April is good and May-early June is great for for fishing.I like hitting the rivers and stream in april-may and catching a mess of rock bass.

Thanks Sinker, Whiskers for the advise. And thanks to Hoot for the honest reminder! When I fish in the fall, usually the last week of october, the fishing has always stunk. Is this just my luck/ lack of experience, of does the fishing really slow down by then?

It might just be my bad timing or lack of experience. Most times, I only get to fish a couple of days in the fall. Might just be that I'm not figuring out the bite fast enough. If plans hold, I'll be a fishin the last week of April this year. Maybe see ya on the lake!
