one of the best ways to fish for trout in the ozark tailwaters is a micro jig wax worm combination. the gear is a 7' ultralite rod with a medium to soft action. i use spinnig reels with good drags and 2 lb. test green/clear line. to rig i just attach the jig to the main line with an imnproved clinch knot abd i use either a casting bubble or a lite bite balsa wood float. set the depth of the float so you get a false strike occasionaly when the jig bumps the bottom. tip jig with wax worm and cast up stream . let the jig dift with the current . this is a technique for those who like to focus. most of the bites are subtle. the softer the bite the bigger the fish , oor so it seems. this technique is what holds the world record for brown trout at 40 lbs + the jig used was a 1/64 olive micro jig. the fish came out of the little red river in arkansas. next time you go give it a try . who knows you my be the next world record setter.
