tanycomo below table rock dam is the place to go. for the really big fish you have to combine hunting ,stalking and fishing skills. vvery good polarized sun glasses are a must for this type of fishing because much of it done by site. there are tons of big fish eating sowbugs along the shore line below the dam. as quietly as possiable walk along the edge "do not get in the water" and when you see a fish rolling on the sowbugs make the best cast you can to him. i use a 9 ' - 4 wt. 6x tippet . i do get broke off but if you trie to use heavier gear its been my experience that you just spook the fish. ill not ramble on endlessly but if if anyone wants more specifics just ask and i'll help you if i can

I am going to Table Rock 3rd week of June to fish for bass. I have always wanted to take the afternoon and go to Taneycomo below the dam to wade. I have fished Taney several times from a boat and was able to get the boat up to the dam area a couple of times because the water was too low. This time I am bringing my trout gear, wadders and deep woods off. I use a 9 foot 5 weight flyrod. Any sugestions on jigs and flies? I have had success on white micro jigs.

sailfish. there are 3 out lets where the hatchery drains into the river . try fishing the third discharge. its a small stream that flows out of the hill side . try to get there early. when i fish there i am dressed and ready to fish 30 minutes before sun up. fish the discharge right where it dumps into the river. i suggest useing size 16 scuds . tan and gray work well. a brown scud size 16 also works very well as it closely resembles hatchery food. about 100 yds dowwn stream from the #3 discharge is a very good run where you can swing a nymph thru the current.if they are dischargeing water you can still fish above the # 1 discharge just walk down the steps and follow the bank up stream just above the discharge. use a sinkink leader with a white or gray wolly bugger size 10 or 12. cast the bugger into the river and let it swing thru the mouth of the discharge. there are some very nice fish in this river . i hope you catch a big un.
