Yesterday after most of my chores were complete, I went to Smithville for basically a boat ride to cool down a little. I hit a few of my spots. I caught 6 bass, largest was 16 inches. I threw them all back for another day.

Ha, I recall a story about one being caught in a local lake around here, but do not recall if was true or legend. My son used to swim for the Clay/Platte YMCA Piranahs years ago.

I was looking through the conservation articles to find if there were any Piranha stories from Missouri and all I could find mentioned was this news headline:
At Longview Lake in Jackson County, Vernon Anderson caught what he thought was a piranha. It turned out to be a pacu, a vegetarian piranha lookalike. Like piranhas, pacus cannot survive Missouri winters, so any companions the fish had at Longview Lake won't be around next spring.
