Lie. Tell her you asked someone to help you pull the boat out. They came while you were gone and tried to do it by themselves and got stuck. The ruts were there when you got home. Give her donkeys name as 'the friend.' Your arse is covered then. ;D
As for a fishing tackle finder. I imagine if a fella went down to the lake pulled down in Tenn he could find pleanty of tackle, plugs, jigs and possibly the odd rod where the water levels been pulled down.

Yeah sure! Go ahead and blame it on me. I'd take the blame fer a friend. (fer a lil while)
I mite be more able to "witch" fishin tackle than I would be able to Witch fish. Fish dont hold still. My forked stick'd be draggin me all over tha place.
The ponderin question at hand........Which fish to Witch?

Oh yeah, on the metter of "Flat spots". Flat spots have a magnetic gravatational pull that attracts stuff to em.
Chances are, whatever ya lost, is onna flat spot somewhere.

Well as usual I'm glad I didn't start blaming people here at home for my missing stuff,I found where I put it.I had stuck the duffel bag with my fish finders and other fishing stuff under my bed for safe keeping.I was looking for a hunting knife I misplaced and ran across them.Oh,and I found my knife in another place I thought would be easy to find. Donkey you were right,it was on a flat spot, the floor.Better known as the largest shelf in my house...

Well I finally remembered to take the portable fish finder out with me on the water today. It seemed to work pretty good.I tried it mostly in 10-25 feet of water and the depth reading was within 1/2 to 1 foot of my big one on the boat.I would say that part was excellent,I was using it in the front of my pontoon and my big one is at the back so I would say it was reading right. As far as fish,I wouldn't know just yet how to check it.It showed fish here and there just about like my other one did,so I would say it is okay.I don't use them looking for fish as much as I do watching the bottom anyway.I think it would be ideal for bank fishing or using in a small jon boat .As for fishing today I didn't really do any.The wind was pretty bad and the lake was very choppy with alot of people skiing today.I mostly just enjoyed the lake and eyeballed a few new spots for some lines to set.

What kind of lights did you go with?I've been thinking about putting some on mine but I haven't decided what to use.I want to find a middle ground between BRIGHT and low battery draw.I have some decent handheld lights like my 3 million candle power rechargeable spot light but it is a pain to keep it charged up and it doesn't burn as long as I'd like.I have a couple florescent lights that light up a good general area but again they're alot of trouble. I have a knapsack full of lights just to get the job done,I'm looking to "lighten" my load so to speak.

These are standard 'fog' lights. Them bright, blindin dern things that I hate ta meet on th hiway. They show th dangerous drift stuff real good, but they are in reality, over kill. They shine good a quarter mile tho, so if them ........uh,...holes go ta runnin er cuttin my line again......!
