I've been seeing lots of them herded up around here.I can get out here and drive within a five or six mile circle and see 3 or 4 groups of 7 or 8 at a time.I see some pretty nice bucks with them and there seems to be ALOT of little bambi's running around.

August must bring about a change in habits. Maybe th bambis are old enuff that th does ain't scared for them or somethin. Course it might be that it's a human thing. We just ate the last of last year's! Same principle that causes fishin fever when it's 0* outside!

;D WHERE AS I'D LIKE TO GO DEER HUNTING THIS YEAR WITH SINKER, I ALSO KNOW THAT THE DEER THAT I SEE NOW, PROBLEY WON'T BE THERE THIS NOVEMBER WHEN DEER SEASON OPENS. WITH THE CITY PEOPLE COMING DOWN ON THE WEEKENDS AND RUNNING OVER THEM, AND THE DEER BEING SMART ENOUGH TO HIDE DURING DEER SEASON, I JUST DON'T SEE HOW THERE ARE ANY DEER TAKEN. I'VE NEVER BEEN DEER HUNTING,CAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS CRULE TO SHOOT SUCH AS BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL, BUT IN THE TIME THAT I'VE BEEN WITH SINKER, I'VE COME TO LOVE THE TASTE OF DEER MEAT, AND I'D LIKE TO SEE IF I COULD SHOOT ONE OF MY OWN. BUT THAT IS UP TO SINKER, IFIN HE WANTS TO TAKE ME ALONG, HE MAY JUST WANT TO KEEP THAT AS HIS TIME AND I'D UNDERSTAND THAT ALSO.

They're cute in a bambi sort of way,but after you get the taste of tenderloin they never looked better than on the dinner table(or breakfast or lunch)

Get someone else to take you hoot. Husbands and brothers make lousy teachers. Less patiance then if you get a distant family member, friend or instructor to teach you. Deer need to be culled. We wiped out the bears n cats that used to keep em in check. Herds up to about a million fuzz butts state wide. Supposedly more than were here when lewis and clark went through. If we don't cull em some the car/deer collision rayes go up and so does ALL our insurance rates. The deer get to thick and eat themselves out of house n home. Plus they have a nasty habit of getting sick and dieing off miserably in droves when they get to thick. Hunting is quick, clean and fairly efficent depending on the hunter. It can get your jucies flowing to!...lol Them being good eatting is just the iceing on the cake. Think i got one does ham left and some Buck stew meat, need to make some jerky.
Been watching one here likes to bed under a big whiteoak right below an overpass on my road. I could spit on his head as i drive by. I don't think anyone else has noticed him. I've watched him go from 4 inch stubs in velvet to what looke like a high n narrow 8 pointer. He's still growing and still in velvet so it';s hard to tell. He's got at least 6 good points on him though.
I don't get to fired up about deer untill about the 1st of september. I play with them during bow season some.(Need a new bow). Come urban, firearms, muzzle loader and antlerless seasons though i make em miserable....lol

;D I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN WHISKERS, THEY ARE THE BEST TASTING MEAT THAT I'VE EVER TASTED, BUT THE WHOLE DEER IS GOOD. MY SON AND I TRYED THE LIVER THIS YEAR, AND IT IS BETTER THAN BEEF LIVER, AND IT'S MORE TENDER THAN THE BEEF LIVER.
WOLFMAN, WHAT IS THERE TO LEARN, I KNOW HOW TO USE A GUN, I KNOW I HAVE TO SET QUIET AND WAIT, AND I KNOW IFIN I TAKE A HEAD SHOT, I WON'T MESS UP ANY OF THE MEAT, WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO KNOW? OTHER THEN IT CAN BE A LONG COLD WAIT. ;D

I ain't never trained nobody ta do mucha nuthin! But I figger as much as Hoot has absorbed listenin, and havin watched her fish when she didn know any body was watchin, it won't take much ta make a "slayer" outa her! If the cold don't git'er she'll be fine. That ain't been much of a problem fer th last few seasons in this country.

Man I seen a trophy buck the other nite just above the house here,I was coming back from the gambling boat and it was standing off the side of the road.Me and the ole lady stopped and watched it for a bit.The moon was shining on it's rack and it was huge.I couldn't tell alot about it but it was the largest spread I have seen on one since I have lived up here.
