Well the prudhoe bay wells are shutting down and the pipeline 'supposedly' has miles of corrosion. Anyone kinda think it's kind of coincidental this comes just about the time something always comes up to make gas prices spike before labor day? Usualy it's a big storm in the gulf, war in the middle east ect. Well we already had a war and have'nt had any bad storms in the gulf.
Oh yeah. last year Katrina was only supposed to cause a gas hike for a couple of months. Oil would be taken from the reserve to keep prices down. Prices went up and have stayed up. Now we got a 'bad pipeline' costing us 8% of our total domestic oil. This is supposed to only last a few months and we will draw oil from the reserves to 'keep prices down.' Sound familiar?
Anyone seen prices staying current or Down yet? Anyone expect prices to stay current or down, especialy the closer labor day gets to us and the last big vacation fling for americans? Some sources say $4 a gallon by Sept 1st. Ive even heard some say possibly $5 a gallon by sometime in september.
Oh yeah, E85. Was'nt it the govoners idea to make ethenol mandatory to help farmers and keep the price of gas down because ethenol was cheaper? NOW, ethenol is as expensive if not more so then reg gas. There's also a stipulation from the gov that stations MUST sell the E85 and can't sell just reg gas unless the gas is like 5 cents cheaper a gallon then the ethenol Now whats the chances of that?
It also seems it was'nt taken into consideration what E85 can do to two cycle engines and such things like chainsaws, weed eaters, lawn mowers, boat motors ect. It burns em up. That and vehicle engines from before about 1985. They need a conversion kit which im told runs around $500 or it will burn them up as well.
What ya think?

First of all I think a pipeline that is filled with oil shouldn't corrode in the first place, just doesn't add up.Yea,it's just another excuse to hike the prices up and keep them there. Then the oil companies can funnel some of the profits into the upcoming election and they all line their pockets. It doesn't seem to do any good to gripe about it but I sure don't have to like it.Maybe people will get fed up like they did in the crunch of the Seventies and start turning over the oil trucks and setting them on fire, maybe they would take notice then...

You know fuel is something on the order of 30 cents a gallon in iraq even with a bunch of the wells ect all tore up. We're pumping millions into their economy so why don't we just start running some convoys of tankers full of oil over here to us? makes sense don't it?
What gets me is there are patents for carbs in the patent office that will get 50 even 80 miles to the gallon. And who bought em up, who owns them? The oil companies and they wont release them, sell them or put them into production. Now about the time gas hit 8 or 10 bucks a gallon and only the rich can afford them and hybrid or electric cars are looking good they might put em into production. Get even more money out of high gas prices.

I heard oil dropped over a dollar a barrel today due to the terrorist activity in england. The stock markets are afraid their going to cancel flights and use less fuel. so maybe the price will come down just a bit. It's a dam shame folks could'nt just quit flying, boating and driveing for about a week and let em choke on the extra oil...lol

Wolfman, they will use whatever excuse they can to get that extra dime out of us..They will make gas prices 3 dollors per gal and leave it that way for awhile, then drop it 15 cents and we will all think were getting a great deal. They got us right where they want us.

Right now it's dropping pretty good.I've seen it for $2.37 this weekend. If they can keep it down for the next 90 days people will forget they were mad about it by the election, then after we vote it will go to $4 by Christmas.Pump prices have dropped about 25% in 2 weeks or less but crude is only down a couple percent so it is all political right now. It's a sad deal but I'm not very optimistic about it changing any time soon. Vote for Willie Nelson in 08'

I know how you feel,I have 2 kids up around KC and I haven't went and seen them all summer.I get to see one of the kids because him and his wife and kids live in Lebanon and I have business to tend to about once a month there but I haven't done much traveling except for business all year.I haven't felt like getting the boat out much at all this year but I imagine if gas was about half it's current price I would "feel" a little better about getting out in it.It costs me about $45 in gas just to go to the Dr. and back so a person doesn't feel much better after a trip like that and then a trip to the pharmacy,($300 a month) and $200 a month for health insurance. At rates like that they don't have much incentive to make me feel better, they make too much off of me if I stay ill.lol! 5 years ago I had the same coverage for $70 a month and it paid all but about $25 on my medicine. The service I get sure doesn't deserve a 500% increase in the cost and my income sure hasn't kept up with the hike in costs.

;DHAY THE GAS PRICES CAME DOWN. HERE IN OSCEOLA, IT IS 2.05, AND I NOTICED YESTERDAY, WHEN I WAS IN THE CITY, I SEEN GAS PRICES BETWEEN 1.92 TO 1.99, DEPENDEIN ON WHAT AREA YOU WERE IN SO MAYBE THERE IS HOPE FOR THESE HIGH PRICES.

Call it a hunch, but I figure it will go up out of sight after the second week of November...
I'll take any break on it I can get but I think it's more than coincidence that the only big drop in price comes just before the election.I see ads on TV where Talent claims he is responsible for stepping in to help bring prices down.I would like to know if he could do that, where has he been the last few years...lol!!
